CKA Group Christmas Office Hours

Please note that the CKA Group office will be open between the hours of 9.00am and 2.30pm on 24^th, and 31st of December and between 10am and 4pm on the 27th and 28th December with normal working hours of 9.00am – 5.30pm commencing on 2nd January 2013.

At the end of a day packed full of exciting activities organised by Innovative Enterprise and introducted by SBC CEO Martino Picardo, tomorrow’s scientists presented their ideas about a new drug to treat MRSA to a panel of judges including our MD, Jonathan Hart-Smith.

Speaking about the event, Jonathan said, “It’s important to us that Science is encouraged and that jobs and careers in the Pharmaceutical industry are shown to be attractive to the next generation.  This industry has been such a power house for the UK that we all need to play our part in making sure that it remains that way for the future.  Today I met some fantastic young adults who were bright and passionate and I am confident that we have met some of the future’s stars of science.  They all did fantastically well in the tasks and activities and I am proud to have met them.”

All of the schools that took part performed extremely well in the Making it in Medicine day but the winners of the final award were a very deserving team of young scientists from Broxbourne School,  showing great team work and strong presentation skills at the end of the day.  Congratulations and well done to everybody that took part.

Professionals from across Hertfordshire came together for the awards ceremony which took place at Knebworth Barns on Thursday 29^th November. The awards were hosted by Daybreak’s Matt Barbet and a tremendous night was had by all.

Stephanie has been a key member of the CK admin team for two years and has now taken the exciting step into recruitment by becoming a resourcer. Based at the CK Science Durham office, Stephanie supports the consultants in sourcing candidates for scientific positions in the North East, Scotland and Cumbria.

Chinenye has recently completed an MSc in Biopharmaceuticals and joined the CK Clinical recruitment team based in Stevenage two weeks ago. Chinenye is assisting Hendre Moolman, Senior Consultant, in recruiting for drug safety, pharmacovigilance and medical information roles across the United Kingdom.

The event, which is taking place on Thursday 6^th December, will provide school children with an insight as to what a career in science might be like. Teams of eight pupils from up to twelve local schools will compete to create a new medicine or medical device as part of the ‘Making it in Medicines’ challenge.

At the end of the day, the teams will be asked to give a presentation detailing their ideas, their medical device or medicine, as well as their business plan in front of a panel of experts from the SBC and local businesses.

The CK Group are one of those local businesses who will be judging at the “Making it in Medicine” event. Speaking of our involvement, Jonathan Hart-Smith, Managing Director at the CK Group stated, “Here at the CK Group, we are committed to encouraging the next generation of scientists to pursue a career in science, as such we are delighted to be involved with this great event. The goal for the day will be to encourage the teams to think about their future in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry.”
